To quote from the TAFL website: "A fanlisting is a web clique that lists fans of a particular subject. Unlike most web cliques, a person does not need a web site in order to join. Fans from around the world submit their information to their approved fanlisting and they are then listed to show their love for the subject." Everyone can join a fanlisting. And in case you want to apply for your own fanlisting(s), you might want to check out The Fanlistings and The Anime Fanlistings websites. Meister Silvian Kirisaki is a character from the anime and manga series, Yakitate!! Japan, by Takashi Hashiguchi. In the series, he is referred to as either "Meister Kirisaki", or as the "General Manager". His real name is Silvian (also spelled as "Sylvan"). His sister, Sophie, lives in France and manages their foster father's bakery. Their father, Kirisaki Yuuichi, is the owner of St. Pierre, which is the rival bakery of Pantasia. His mother was French, and she died while he and Sophie were still young. As stated above, he is the General Manager of Pantasia. Besides being one of the most excellent bread artisans in the series, Meister Kirisaki is also an excellent judge when it comes to bread. When judging, he uses his pet birds in his reactions to indicate the scores. The highest score (100) is represented by a peacock. This peacock's name is Coo, and out of all his other pets, Coo is the most visible throughout the series. In the anime, he is voiced by Hayami Sho. (If you've seen Yami no Matsuei, Hayami-san is also the voice of Kazutaka Muraki.) Also, if you've seen Gundam Wing, you'll agree with me that Meister Kirisaki's blond hair and his titanium alloy mask will remind you of Zechs Merquise ;D I'm not sure if it was intended as a pun, but knowing the crackness of Yakitate!! Japan, it could be XD (He wears a mask to hide his true identity. Probably due to the fact that he is the son of the owner of St. Pierre. The last person who saw him without his mask is the manager of Pantasia Southern Tokyo branch, Matsushiro Ken.) Meister Kirisaki is always seen wearing his titanium alloy mask. So I thought that the term Mask would fit his FL well. However, I decided to play a little word game here. I chose a term that has a double meaning for me (crack!influence from the series itself :3). "Masque" is the French term for "mask" (Meister Kirisaki is half-French). It also refers to his appearance (he is never seen without his mask; also, just look at his favored style of clothing -- he was almost never seen wearing a Baker's uniform.) So that's the reason why this FL's name is "Masque". (Okay, my explanation's quite dorky. But it could've been worse. I couldn't come up with any other appropriate name, and once I was near to using his initials "MSK" because it's like "mask" but without the "a" in it ._. Then I came up with "Masked Baker", but I didn't like how it sounded, so I dropped the idea. I also thought of "Titanium Alloy", but I think it's too much of a reference to Zechs Merquise, so again, I dropped it. It's all about bread :) One of it's alternative titles is "Baked Fresh!! Ja-Pan". The "pan" in the title has a double meaning. Not only does it refer to the country of Japan, it also refers to the bread. "Pan" is a term for bread. They say it was a pun on the part of the mangaka. So Ja-pan = Japanese Bread. It makes sense since it's the goal of the main protagonist, Azuma Kazuma, to make the ultimate Japanese bread. - The Anime News Network entries on Yakitate!! Japan has complete information on its seiyuu, publishing companies, news, episode titles, etc~. It also lists several interesting trivias about the anime. These are the links: anime and manga. - Fresh Baked! is a comprehensive fansite for both the anime and manga. At the moment, it's the only English fansite that I found. - You can also read the Wikipedia entry. It pretty much covers almost everything there is to know about the series. What else? If you like crackness in anime and manga, I highly recommend this series. There's just too much crackness and puns XD You see, along with the interesing facts about bread and baking (some imaginary, some true), each and every bread tasted is accompanied with amusing reactions. Sometimes they tend to be over-the-top, but nevertheless, they're still crack. These reactions come complete with references to other series, like Naruto, Detective Conan, Dragonball Z, and One Piecem, just to name a few. They even have a Lord of The Rings Parody. (Then again, if you like Meister Kirisaki, then you have watched and/or read this series already. So why recommend it in this FL? I just like writing about things I like, that's all 8D) Lay out was made using Adobe Photoshop CS2 and WordPad.
