Meister Kirisaki was born in France. His real name is Silvian, and he used to sell bread in the streets to support himself and his younger sister, Sophie. (Click here for more relevant info about his past.)
Life for him was hard back then. In order to sell his bread, he had to learn some tricks in order to attract customers. One of them was to make birds come out of his hat.
Even at present, he can still make use of what he had learned; this time, for bread judging.
